Recently, Bao-Jie He, the Professor with the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at Chongqing University, was awarded an open topic research fund by the Shanghai Key Laboratory of Urban Design and Urban Science (LOUD). Leveraging NYU Shanghai's strengths in scientific research, particularly in urban science, data science, and social science, LOUD is expanding its international vision and fostering international cooperation. LOUD aims to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, promote the integration of industry, learning, research, and application, and ultimately establish itself as an academic center with innovative vitality and an internationally advanced platform for urban studies.

On June 27,2024, Shanghai Key Laboratory of Urban Design and Urban Science ( hereinafter referred to as " LOUD " ) was invited to participate in the Green & Low-Carbon Airport Development Workshop hosted by the New Development Bank in Taiyuan. LOUD co-founding director Chenghe Guan and researcher Shuai Tian participated in the seminar. As an expert team of the New Development Bank, LOUD participates in the zero-carbon airport project consultation of Taiyuan Wusu International Airport ( TWIA ) and helps Shanxi Aviation Industry Group ( SAIG ) to actively promote the decarbonization process of TWIA. This move aims to provide valuable experience for the low-carbon transformation of the aviation industry and promote the sustainable development of global airports.

The Shanghai Key Laboratory of Urban Design and Urban Science ( hereinafter referred to as " LOUD " ) published a paper entitled " Advancing Intra and Inter-City Urban Digital Twins : An Updated Review " in the Journal of Planning Education and Research.

On June 13 th,Beijing Key Laboratory of Megaregions Sustainable Development Simulation of Capital University of Economics and Business ( hereinafter referred to as " The Urban Key Laboratory of Capital University of Economics and Business " ) came to Shanghai New York University Shanghai Key Laboratory of Urban Design and Urban Science ( hereinafter referred to as " LOUD " ) for communication. The purpose of this exchange is to strengthen scientific research cooperation and academic exchanges between the two sides and jointly promote cooperation in urban research. Among them, WU Kang, director of  The Urban Key Laboratory of Capital University of Economics and Business,Qiliang Mao, deputy director, Lu Hui, director of the office, Jiang Chao, lecturer, ChengHe Guan, Ying Li, co-director of LOUD, Yanjun Liu, deputy director, Kangning Huang, Jiayong Liang, Zhibin Chen and so on. The meeting was chaired by Professor Kangning Huang.

Professor ChengHe Guan, Director of Shanghai Urban Design and Urban Science Key Laboratory, participated in the roundtable discussion at the ‘Climate Change and Business Innovation’ Forum. He offered new insights for urban green and low-carbon transformation by presenting the case of climate parks.
