International Collaboration

Now, we have partnered with four world class universities to accomplish a number of accomplishments, as follows:

Tongji International Design Summer School has been organized by CAUP (College of Architecture and Urban Planning) in Shanghai since 2005. This two-week urban design workshop has gained international reputation as a distinguished platform for international students to meet and communicate to each other, and is widely accepted and highly recognized by both domestic and worldwide renowned universities.

  • PEAK Urban Research Programme, University of Oxford

Shanghai Key Laboratory of Urban Design and Urban Science (LOUD), NYU Shanghai is offering postdoctoral positions in urban planning & design, urban ecology, urban geography, and urban data science, sponsored by the postdoc program of LOUD at NYU Shanghai in partnership with the PEAK Urban Programme at University of Oxford.

  • Graduate School Of Design, Harvard University

Directors of Shanghai Key Laboratory of Urban Design and Urban Science, Chenghe Guan and Ying Li co-authored a book with Peter Rowe, who is the Raymond Garbe Professor of Architecture and Urban Design and Harvard University Distinguished Service Professor. The book Analogies of Urban Spatial Formation studies urban formation, which among cities and towns in East Asia and other parts of the world varies in scale and rate, both within and between national settings.

  •  The University of Tokyo

Shanghai Key Laboratory of Urban Design and Urban Science (LOUD) collaborated with The University of Tokyo on the study of delineating urban park catchment areas using mobile phone data. We concluded that the application of mobile phone location data can improve our understanding of an urban park catchment area, provide useful information and methods to analyze the usage of urban parks, and can aid in the planning and policy-making of urban parks.
