Qiang Xie
Professor of Structural Engineering, Tongji University
Prof. Xie’s research focuses on natural disaster prevention and
mitigation of electrical power grid infrastructures, with particular
emphasis on wind disaster prevention of power transmission lines and
earthquake disaster prevention of power substation systems. He has
ser ved as a JSPS postdoctoral research fellow at the Disaster
Prevention Research Institute of Kyoto University, Japan. Prof. Xie is a
committee member of IEEE Standards 693 and 1527, a member of IEC
SEG13, and the convenor of SEG13/WG2. He obtained his PhD from
Tongji University in 2001 and joined the faculty of the Department of
Structural Engineering at Tongji University in 2004, where he is
currently a professor.
