The Beautiful China · 2024 Low-carbon and Green City Development Forum was successfully held

In order to further advance the goal of Beautiful China and promote low-carbon and green transformation in cities, the "Beautiful China · 2024 Low-carbon and Green City Development Forum" and the 3rd Annual Conference (Special Event) of Shanghai Key Laboratory of Urban Design and Urban Science (LOUD) were held in Lingang New Area, Shanghai, on October 23rd.

The forum was jointly organized by LOUD, in partnership with Shanghai Lingang Economic Development (Group) Co., Ltd., and co-organized by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Prosperity Alliance Shanghai Center, Shanghai Climate Week and the Urban Ecological Chain Committee. It was hosted by Tongmu Construction Group and Shanghai Technology Exchange.

Hao Tang, Deputy Director of the Lingang New Area Administration Committee of Shanghai, Jie Xia, Academician of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Academician of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, Steven Rockefeller, the sixth generation of the Rockefeller family, Meng Sun, Vice President of Shanghai Lingang Economic Development (Group) Co., Ltd., Rong Zou, Joint Director of the UNITAR Prosperity Alliance Shanghai Center and Co-chair of the Executive Committee of Shanghai Climate Week, and Jijun Lu, Vice President of Shanghai Technology Exchange, attended and delivered speeches.

Professor Chenghe Guan, Co-founding Director of LOUD, also delivered a speech.

Following that, Dr.Wei Zhou, the head of the low-carbon city research project at LOUD, provided a detailed introduction to the project. He stated that LOUD, with its world-class research achievements, most effective integrated solutions, and national-level digital and intelligent service platform in the field of low-carbon cities, has built a solid bridge between academia and the government and business circles. The low-carbon city project will not only focus on academic achievements but also strive to introduce cutting-edge low-carbon technologies into practical applications by governments and enterprises, helping them achieve low-carbon and green transformation goals, thereby significantly enhancing their core competitiveness and co-creating a sustainable future.

At the forum, LOUD signed cooperation agreements with Shanghai Jingyi Wanxi Renewable Energy Technology Co., Ltd., Sungrow Zero-Carbon Center, Fujian Zhanglong Group Co., Ltd., China MCC5 Group Corporation Limited, and Pei Partnership Architecture.

During the keynote speeches, Yi Su, Chief Data Officer of Shanghai Technology Exchange Co., Ltd., Lisi Zhao, Director of Solutions at Sunshine Wisdom Carbon Technology Co., Ltd., Mengfei Wang, Marketing Director of Hanyun Technology of Langxin Group, and Jing Li, Deputy Secretary-General of the Urban Ecological Chain Committee of Shanghai Climate Week, delivered fascinating presentations on the topics of "Big Data System for Technology Finance Based on the Confirmation and Pricing of Green and Low-carbon Technologies," "One-stop Solution Based on the iCarbon Energy and Carbon Digitization Platform," "Green Methodology: From 'Microgrid' to 'Zero-carbon Industrial Park,'" and "Climate City Park 2.0 - A Destination for Urban Ecological Vitality," respectively.

Furthermore, during the roundtable forum, hosted by Dr. Ming Zeng, Chief Engineer of Shanghai Tongmu Architectural Consulting Co., Ltd., Mingyuan Gao, Vice President of Guangdong Jingyi Metal Co., Ltd., Minggang Wu, General Manager of Hanyun Technology of Langxin Group, Tao Li, Director of the Environmental Protection Center of the Ministry of Transport, Xiao Chen, President of Sunshine Wisdom Carbon Technology Co., Ltd., and Xiaobo Wu, Chief Scientist of China Energy Engineering Group Geothermal Co., Ltd., engaged in a lively discussion centering on topics such as practices in the field of low-carbon cities and scenarios for low-carbon city construction in ten years. Together, they explored the path towards sustainable urban development and its potential future.

In his closing speech, Yougang Zhou , President of Shanghai Tongmu Architectural Consulting Co., Ltd., partner of the Key Laboratory's low-carbon city research project and the organizer of the Beautiful China Forum, stated that this forum was not only a new starting point for cooperation in green development for low-carbon cities but also an important opportunity for all parties to work together to promote the development of low-carbon and green cities. In the future, the Key Laboratory will collaborate with partners from various sectors to contribute wisdom and strength to building a more beautiful and livable human home.
