Wang Shi visited LOUD
On April 29, 2024, Mr. Wang Shi visited the Shanghai Key Laboratory of Urban Design and Urban Science (LOUD) for a tour and exchange. The meeting was attended by Chen Yuxin, Dean of Business at NYU Shanghai; ChengHe Guan, Founding Co-director of LOUD; Liu Yanjun, Executive Deputy Director; Zhang Guohua, Executive Director of the Institute for Cities and Real Estate in Emerging Markets; Hong Hai, Producer of Times Record; Zhang Jing, Managing Director of Yinshan Group; Ning Yuanjun, Assistant President of Shimao Group; Gu Shaobo of Shimao Group; and Chen Long, General Manager of Fujian Zuo Hai Technology Co., Ltd.
Dean of Business at NYU Shanghai, Professor Chen Yuxin, welcomed Mr. Wang Shi's visit. Professor Chen introduced the overall situation of the college, the current research projects being conducted, and NYU Shanghai's future plans for the laboratory's development.
Co-director of LOUD, ChengHe Guan, provided an overview of the laboratory's current construction, ongoing research projects, and collaborations with organizations such as the Chinese Medical Association and the Shanghai Natural Science Foundation. He elaborated on the laboratory's achievements in areas such as digital twin cities, 15-minute living circle spatial resource optimization, and low-carbon city construction to address climate change. Liu Yanjun highlighted that LOUD leverages data to build an urban data platform, fully utilizes its international advantages, and continues to conduct interdisciplinary research.
Mr. Wang Shi, founder of Vanke Group and DeepRock Group, introduced his recent business developments, such as the operations of the "Foundation for Rural Development" and the "Shenzhen Mammoth Foundation" established since 2018. He discussed operations in areas such as "low-carbon economy," "carbon-neutral communities," "urban microgrids," and "Biosphere 3." Both parties explored future development models for low-carbon cities, with Mr. Wang Shi proposing a model with one axis and four dimensions. Mr. Wang Shi suggested that the laboratory should leverage its interdisciplinary advantages, serve as a platform for multi-party cooperation applications, and focus more on scenario-based development.
During this exchange, all parties provided updates on their current business operations and discussed the low-carbon economy business model. They expressed the intention to strengthen communication and facilitate multi-party business cooperation in the future.
